Arbuta Arlene Frisina

Arbuta Arlene Frisina, 78, of 557 Chestnut St., Apt. 39 C, Meadville, formerly of Stan Road, Meadville, passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2014, at Meadville Medical Center.

Arbuta was born at home in Meadville, on October 18, 1936, a daughter of the late Charles and Arlene (Arvilla) Smith.

On June 15, 1965 Arbuta married Joseph A. Frisina; he survives.

She was a member of Our Lady Queen of the Americas, Conneaut Lake.


Arbuta had been employed by Allegheny College as a Supervisor in the Food Service Department for 23 years. She was a 1954 graduate of Meadville High School and was chosen as the Halloween Queen in 1953 and 1951. Arbuta enjoyed her flowers and working in the garden. She had just returned from a trip to Italy with her husband.

In addition to her husband, Joe of 49 years, Arbuta is survived by two sons John Burkhardt and his wife Bess of Colorado, Joseph Frisina and his wife Michelle of Michigan, a grandson John Burkhardt of Colorado and a granddaughter Amanda Frisina of Michigan.

In addition to her parents, Arbuta was preceded in death by a son Bobby Burkhardt.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday from 2-5 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where a Scripture Service will be held at 2:00 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, on Saturday, November 8, 2014, at St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, 383 Arch St., Meadville, with Fr. Jeffrey J. Lucas, Pastor of Our Lady Queen of the Americas, Conneaut Lake, officiating.

Arbuta will be laid to rest in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Vernon Twp.
