Annie A. Singleton, 78, of 29020 Guys Mills Rd., Guys Mills, passed away Thursday, March 14th, 2013 at Meadville Medical Center.
Annie was born in Danville, VA on June 6, 1934, a daughter of the late John and Mary (Murphy) Hairston.
On May 16, 1981 Annie married William W. Singleton; he preceded her in death on June 22, 2009.
She was an active member of St. John Missionary Full Gospel Baptist Church where she served as a member of the Mother Board, the Sunday Morning Welcoming Committee as well as Director of the Summer Blast Youth Program. She also volunteered her time with the Food Pantry, the Hope House, Jesus on the Outside and was in charge of the church Decoration and Beautification.
Annie retired from the Meadville Walmart where she had been employed for more than 25 years. Prior to her relocating to the Guys Mills area she had retired from the former A & S Department Store (later known as Macys) which was located in Flushing, NY. She was a graduate of Nottoway High School, Danville, VA.
Annie is survived by three nephews Ronnie Hairston of Glendale, MD, Rudy Hairston of Washington, DC, Ricky Miller of New York state, one niece Annette Whitaker of New Jersey, a host of great nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents and her husband William of 28 years, Annie was preceded in death by a brother Thomas Hairston, two sisters Mary Hairston and Amelia Farrow.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, March 22, 2013, from 10-11 at St. John Missionary Full Gospel Baptist Church, 792 N. Main St., Meadville, where A Homecoming Service will be held at 11:00 AM with Bishop Stanley Smith, Pastor, officiating.
Interment will take place in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Vernon Twp.
Arrangements are under the direction of Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville.
