Alice V. Pless

Alice V. Pless, 88, of 31 N. Park Ave., Meadville, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community.

Alice was born in New York City, on March 22, 1928, a daughter of the late Harry and Rose (Marakian) Garabedian.

On June 9, 1951 Alice married Peter A. Pless; she was remarried on May 1, 1971 to Reed M. Hilty. They both preceded her in death.

Alice lived in several of the boroughs of New York City. After graduating from Roosevelt High School in the Bronx, she attended the Monroe Business School. She worked as a bookkeeper for numerous businesses in the New York area. She retired as comptroller of Switches Unlimited, Woodside, NY in 1996 after having been there for 15 years. She enjoyed dancing, listening to big band music, watching old movies and playing cards. In her retirement she enjoyed going to the senior citizen center located in Manhattan. In 2007 she moved to Meadville. She especially enjoyed the friendships she developed being a part of the Red Hat Society. Her life was dedicated to making sure her sons were able to be successful in their future lives. They are eternally grateful. She will be sadly missed by her family.

Alice is survived by three sons Dr. Peter Pless and his wife Janice of Meadville, Paul Pless and his wife Angela of Hopewell Junction, NY, Robert Pless Esq. of Ramsey, NJ, five granddaughters Victoria, Julia, Anne, Mary, Jane, a sister Zabel Mesrobian of NJ as well as nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husbands Alice was preceded in death by a granddaughter Catherine Pless and her beloved sister Louise (Lee) Pischetola.

Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 from 3-7 PM at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where the Funeral Service will follow at 7:00 PM with Fr. Tom Trocchio, Parochial Vicar, officiating.

Alice will be laid to rest in Oakland Cemetery, Yonkers, NY.
