Albert "Bert" W. Mckinney

On January 23, 2022, Jesus came to take Albert "Bert" W.  McKinney, 84, of Meadville, home to be with his Lord and Savior.

Bert, a son of the late Francis Edward and Elizabeth Gertrude (Manuel) McKinney, was born on June 20, 1937, at home in Cochranton.

He was a 1955 graduate of Cochranton High School.

On November 21, 1955, Bert married Janet Louise Ramey. They recently celebrated their sixty-sixth anniversary with their family.

Bert’s faith and church was always a big part of his life. He was an active member of Meadville Alliance Church where he served as a greeter as well as a deacon.

Over the years, Bert had been employed by various companies such as Firestone Tire, Saegertown Beverage, and Miller Vending. He also enjoyed sales positions at John V. Schultz and Aflac. The majority of his years were spent at Penn Towel Supplies where he was a driver/salesman, and assistant manager.  Later, he was employed at Meadville Medical Center in several departments including central processing. He retired after ten years of service. Following his retirement, Bert, not wanting to remain idle, worked for Peterson Auto Supply where he enjoyed visiting and interacting with his customers until the age of eighty. Bert's hobbies included hunting, golfing and bowling in various leagues, and pitching for slow-pitch softball. For many years, he served as manager/player for different softball teams.  He very much enjoyed going out to eat, but his greatest joy in life was his family.  Being surrounded by his children and grandchildren made his life complete.  They showered him with love and he loved them deeply.  He will be sadly missed.

In addition to his wife, Janet, Bert is survived by three children - Edward "Ed" McKinney (Robin), Susan "Sue" Holt-Thompson (Glenn), Scott McKinney (Janice) all of Meadville; five grandchildren Shaun McKinney (Heather), Joseph "Joe"  McKinney (Stephaine), Jennifer "Jen" Koffman (Casey), Todd McKinney all of Meadville, and Victoria "Tori" Solomon (Joel) of Albuquerque, NM; five great grandchildren Shane, Fallon, Meegan and Isaiah McKinney, Elizabeth "Libby" Koffman; three sisters Shirley Hart of Meadville, Joyce Pittard (Jim) of Lynchburg, VA, Cathy McKinney (life partner John Bruzgis) of Gastonia, NC; a brother Ralph McKinney (Rodney Henry) of Gastonia, NC; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bert was preceded in death by an infant sister Judith "Judy" McKinney; and a son in law John Holt.
