John Joseph Parise

John Joseph Parise, 90, of Meadville, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2024 at Juniper Village.


John was born on April 1, 1933, a son of the late Joseph J. and Grace (Intilisano) Parise.


He enlisted in the Air Force at age 17, obtained the rank of staff sergeant, and served his country honorably for four years.


On December 20, 1958 he married the former Jane Munson, who preceded him in death in 2013.


John and Jane lived in Las Vegas for six years where he worked at the Riviera Hotel. He became friends with several celebrities, including George Auld, Johnny Desmond, Sara Vaugh, Kaye Stevens, Shecky Greene and Dick Contino. After moving back to Meadville, John and Jane owned and operated Harmonsburg Village Inn, Surf and Turf, Cork and Bottle, High Chaparral and Johnnies Bar. John enjoyed listening to Frank Sinatra music, hunting, fishing, golfing and loved gardening.


John is survived by his stepdaughter Debbie Mellin, several nieces and nephews.


In addition to his parents and wife Jane of 55 years, he was preceded in death by a daughter Cathy Parise, five siblings Josephine Catalano, Bennie Parise, Mary Parise, Angie Koczwara and Joseph (Pep) Parise.


A graveside service will take place Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 12:00 noon at Lakeview Cemetery, Route 322, Conneaut Lake, with Fr. Kyle Seyler, officiating, Full military honors will follow by VFW Post #2006.


John will be laid to rest beside his wife, Jane and daughter, Cathy.


Memorial contributions may be made in John's memory to Yolanda G. Barco Oncology Institute, 16792 Conneaut Lake Road, or Gentiva Hospice, 1119 Park Ave., both in Meadville, PA 16335.


Arrangements are under the direction of STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT STREET, MEADVILLE.
